Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Mar 12, 2015 9:18 pm Hey Guys So for our project.. we are making a raised garden bed.. the side facing the wooden fence, we are planning to put a cement sheet before the wooden fence so that the soil does not rot the fence. Also planning to separate the cement sheet from wooden fence with some treated pine posts.. Planning to get this cement sheet as this is the only one which will fit in my car.. so will have to buy multiple and join them as our garden bed is 3000mm long – we do get those sheets but not possible to fit in the car.. http://www.bunnings.com.au/james-hardie ... m_p0714158 now our questions are 1) How to cut them? Don't want to buy large expensive tools for one off job. Can I use a stanley knife on it? or will need cement shear or some kind of angle grinder? Any place to get them cheap for a day? 2) How do you join two cement sheets? Does not have to look good.. just so that they stick together and does not let soil through or break apart. Will this work? http://www.bunnings.com.au/builders-edg ... e_p0710632 3) We should put the timber posts on the ground a bit deep in a hole and fill with cement? How much cement is needed you reckon approx? or some ready mix or alternate solution like sand or something else available? 4) Once cemented/sand/etc .. Do I need to attach the post to the wooden fence by some means or just resting against it would be fine? 5) Would I need to again attach the cement sheet to the wooden posts with nails or something or would it be fine just resting against it? As you can see a full n00b on DIY but seeing if we can do this or need to get a handy man ? Hi, Currently building, we are on a sloping block so we have from floor level to the roof in axon cladding.
