Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Feb 16, 2015 11:56 am Hi all, Hoping someone can help identify what variety of Hakea this is. I had this in my garden (northern suburbs of Melbourne) before the old house was demolished and it was cleared by the demolition crew. As you can see, it used to attract black cockatoos - they'd come the same time every year to feed on it for a few days and then disappear again until the following year. http://i1310.photobucket.com/albums/s659/blue5uede/DSCF5237.jpg I'm looking at putting in another one as we are doing all the landscaping at the moment. If anyone could help identify the variety I'd appreciate it! Completed a knock down and rebuild in northern Melbourne. Handover completed 27/09/2013 and now moved in. Re: Help me identify this Hakea 2Feb 16, 2015 1:28 pm It looks very similar to one that our friend has in his leafy garden although in Sydney but he has commented on the black cockies liking it too although the ones in your photo look slightly different to the ones we get here. This link may help http://www.flora.sa.gov.au/lucid_keys/Hakea/index.shtml and there is always this excellent site for plants that you can buy to attract specific birds. http://birdlife.org.au/documents/CBC-plant-brochure.pdf I couldn't find the exact document on their site so I just googled it - go figure Stewie 1 330 Hi there, long-time lurker but first time posting. I've bought a house 2 and a bit years ago and last year we had some major water damage on a converted pergola area… 0 7929 Yes, unless you are in a low intensity rainfall area or the area is protected from rain. Do you have access to NCC Part 2 or can you download it? I can email you a copy… 10 12508 |
