Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Feb 15, 2015 10:26 pm Hi All, We are in currently in the process of building in a new estate in Sydney South West. We are building a single story 24sq house on a 375sqm block so we don't need much turfing or paving. We have a strict $15,000 budget for full landscaping job which needs to include the following. - Coloured through 30sqm drive way - turfing and plants for front and backyard. Front yard is roughly 27sqm and backyard is 50sqm - compacted gravel + stepping pavers or concrete pathway down both side of the house. So roughly 40sqm all up. - Rendered/moroka Brick letterbox Would like the above job to be completed by one person/company so we are wondering if our 15k budget is enough or are we way short. Any advice, tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. Sydney 2Feb 16, 2015 6:16 am I think it is realistic for such a small area however there may be costs you aren't considering like access and other things that an expert would know. Having said that, I've seen quotes as low as $6,000 for really basic and small gardens.. so the challenge is going to be in finding the landscaper who doesn't charge an arm and a leg.. that's also our current challenge too. We know we can get ours done for around $15,000 but finding a landscaper that doesn't want to charge between $30,000 and $50,000 is tricky. The actual cost of the materials is quite low for the most part but the labour costs is high.. Sydney 3Feb 16, 2015 9:23 am Hi Light487, Good to know that getting our landscaping done under 15k is possible, I sort of figured finding a landscaper that is willing to do the job at a reasonable price will be the hardest part. Would be sensational to get some recommendation for landscaper from Sydney sider. Still trying to find one.. I did locate a website that listed "packages".. but they are obviously rough estimates. Though it was interesting that their estimate included bobcat excavation etc, not just the plants, turf and paving. I forget the name of it off the top of my head and they haven't responded to my request for further info.. so who knows.. Another option that I've been considering is to get a concreter to come in and do the paving/concrete paths and the garden bed borders etc and then do the rest ourselves over time.. Sydney 5Aug 30, 2015 7:50 pm Hi jazz926, I am in a similar situation. I am buidling a 24sq single storey house on a 375sqm block of land. A 24sq house is the biggest that is allowed on 375sqm. I wanted the least amount of yard space as I am not keen to spend time on the the yard. I am in Melbourne and have a quote of $7700 (including GST) to lay colour concrete apron all around the house of 1.2m width and at least 100mm thick with excavation, rock base, compaction, 6 drains, F62 mesh, expansion joints, abelflex against brickwork and render and 12mm dowel drilled. I'll do up my front yard on my own with pebbles and pavers and mulch with two trees. As for the rear yard, I am thinking of getting artificial grass installed professionally throughout (12.5mx2.4m). I figure it is going cost $11k all in, with concrete and artificial grass professionally done and front yard DIY. Hi Kristy Around $1.7-1.8m or around $4,600/sqm. if you PM me your email I will send you a break up in a spreadsheet so you can get an understanding of the costs for… 1 9925 Coming back to your old stomping grounds, huh?
