Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 23, 2015 7:20 pm We brought a new house and the backyard is a dirt patch- we have decided on pavers for a deck area and a path that will lead down to the playground for the kids, we have a wooden playset for them, hubby is thinking bordering with old railway sleepers but I'm concerned about safety and wondering if there was a cheaper option for a boarder? We are wanting soft bark chips to fill but open to other cheaper options, thanx Sarah Re: Playground ideas 2Jan 24, 2015 1:14 am i am looking at a soft fall option at moment for our playground area, comes in many colors but need to research more into cost . so also interested to see what others have done for play area Re: Playground ideas 3Jan 24, 2015 6:56 am Not sure on sleepers. Re: Playground ideas 7Mar 16, 2015 6:58 am I wouldn't put the playground on grass. We currently have a playground similar to the photo that 1rocky posted and trying to keep the grass neat around the base is a lot of work, for some reason the grass around the base grows twice as quick as the rest of the yard. Using a whipper snipper damages the timber so currently I cut the grass around the base by hand. We're building a new house and i'll be looking at every other alternative to grass. I would say both styles you have pictured are steel. The lower chord of the first pic would be a massive lump if made using timber considering the size of the rafters.
