We have been renting this property in Melbourne which has got this grass in the front yard for about an year. It gets a lot of wear as we park our cars on this lawn and it is west facing.
We never watered or fertilized it but the photographed area of the grass always stays green through out the year. Its not a great looking lawn by any means though. It has got a lot of patches.
Not a single weed plant grows on this soil either.
The 3rd image above shows what the soil looks like.
Can some one identify what grass this is? Looks a bit like couch or tall fescue to me due to the thin leaf blade.
Can you please advise whether this behavior is due to the hardening of clay soil over the years?
