Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 04, 2015 10:08 pm Hello, Was just after some advice on what to do with my backyard. The slope from the slab to the back far corner is approx 1.4m over 9 metres. Originally was going to have the whole lot excavated to the level of the cut out behind the slab and then have larger retainers at the back and slightly on the sides. But after a talk with council they are saying we need approval over 500mm cut/fit and there's no way they will give approval for a cut that large.I need to double check this as others in the same estate have had larger retainers on the front of their properties. So now we have to weigh up other options in case the cut is not allowed. Do you think a tier/terracing is the only other option and would it look any good having a retainer at 1.5m from the back slab and a further double retainer in the back right hand corner where there is reasonable slope? Same with how would the irrigation side work.. We don't want anything fancy just kid friendly. Just not sure who to consult, a Landscaper, Engineer or landscape architect for ideas on the best way to design the yard and best drainage options also. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as feel stuck not knowing which trade I should be approaching for this.
