Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 03, 2015 11:26 pm Hi, I am looking to install 150 SQM of Zoysia in Sunbury, Victoria. I have filtered my options down to Empire Zoysia and Nara Zoysia. No landscaper here is aware of these lawn types here in Melbourne and there is a small 1 SQM patch at a display at Melbourne Brick. I felt that the turf is soft but a bit prickly. I read that the prickliness is due to the excessive seeding in the case of Nara Zoysia. Can you please let me know whether you are still happy with Zoysia? Please also advice how these grasses do with weeds and mowing frequencies in Victoria and how it feels under bare feet? Ours is a new block on a rocky hill and the lawn will be west facing with plenty of sun light and we will have sprinkler system installed. It is only prickly when it seeds for a week or so a few times a year. IMO sunbury is too cold for either Zoysia if the turf has any wear from kids, pets, foot traffic etc.. The cost/benefit of wired setups for the house are no longer what they used to be. Lots of wireless options.
