It is struggling in some areas due to what I believe would be inadequate soil prep. Unfortunately I listened to the suppliers recommendation and just put down Sandy Loam. After reading alot of the guides on here, I thought I would try top dress one section with a bit of bentonite clay, hoping it would slowly seep into the soil underneath. It has made a difference to the section I applied it to - it is growing much better than my other sections of lawn. Anyway, I think I have put too much in some areas and the clay is still lurking on the surface. After a big rain, it turns very slimy, and if walked upon, it leaves footprints in the lawn. Is there any suggestions on how to break the clay down and away? I have read that gypsum might help, but before I do any more damage I thought I would see if anyone had any ideas.
