There will be a 1 metre retaining wall in place to hold back all the soil. What i would like to know is would you recommend filling that area with. (excluding drainage gravel) 100% top soil = expensive 80% cheap fill (recycled soil) + 20% top soil = cheaper is there any harm in using cheap fill as a base to raise the ground level or will it affect the top soil further down the track. or if anyone has had previous experience in filling a large amount in the back yard that would be handy any advice would be appreciated Re: Backfilling to level backyard 3Nov 29, 2014 7:38 am mgilla An even cheaper way is to call a few pool builders and tell them you will take x amount of fill if they are digging a pool close by.
