Can anyone tell me what the metal edging used in this photo is called?
I've seen these strips in many display homes but bunnings only sells the plastic or wood types.

The cheapest pack is around $8 ish per Metre. You need to buy the link plates to join them. Don't buy the pegs they sell with them though. Buy the retic pegs that have the hook end. They are a third of the price and do the job Better! Re: Garden edging made of metal? 4Nov 20, 2014 10:28 am Thanks xxkatxx! Another reason for me to go to Masters...I will check these out Our Build Thread: The "Extended" Marina by Visionone Homes Our Inspirations: Frank Lloyd Wright | Houzz Re: Garden edging made of metal? 5Nov 20, 2014 4:22 pm Its duragal flat bar thats been used, 100x5 is a good size for garden edges. Do yourself a favour and stay away from the hardwares. Except go there and buy a reasonable quality hack saw and blades, now find your nearest steel supplier and go buy it direct from them. You will have to buy a 6.5m length that they may or may not cut for you, hence the hacksaw. But cost wise the hardware will be twice + the price and wont have the 100mm. Re: Garden edging made of metal? 6Nov 20, 2014 6:49 pm xxkatxx Oh and don't bother trying the plastic...we tried and failed might be ok if you want curved lines but certainly not for straight The plastic edging is a waste of time for curves as well it expands and contracts too much. Re: Garden edging made of metal? 7Dec 11, 2014 12:49 pm Just make sure the edging is well into ground level.. My son nearly cut through the main nerve of his thumb falling on an edge that had worked its way out of the soil due to a leaking retic pipe. Murphy's Law...as none of the other edges had done so and this was in an obscure corner of the garden. Go figure! Re: Garden edging made of metal? 8Dec 11, 2014 12:52 pm Thanks for the tips guys...much appreciated. Treeseachanger - Yikes! Hope your son is ok... This would have made his hand useless as the opposable thumb is what gives us the best grasp for stuff. All's well now, this was in a previous house: he fell out of the wheelbarrow his brother was "driving" at speed...as you do. Re: Garden edging made of metal? 10Dec 11, 2014 1:40 pm The top edge of the linkedge is bent over so it's curved with no sharp edges but where you cut the end pieces it can be quite sharp! Haven't had any issues here but can see that it would definitely hurt if little fingers and toes got the right spot! You are fine. The concrete is never going to explode. Worse case scenario is that it develops a crack from different rates of expansion but hopefully it's got some… 5 4509 Fine with me... just let 'em step in with some affordable (but good) gear... 12 4273 i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 11108 |
