Are soak wells commonly used in Melbourne?
I heard that in my area many years ago they used to use gravel pits but now it's all kerb and channel.

My plumber used 100mm pipe because of the low fall, but an option to look at is getting a 2000l water tank and running your stormwater into that. Then the overflow goes to the street. The water in the tank can be used for your toilets etc. This gives you a head pressure from the tank to discharge. It's called a charged stormwater system.
