Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Oct 24, 2014 9:25 pm Hi We have built a retaining wall using adbri Versawall and have core filled and back filled with no fines concrete. After the initial pour(3 cubes) we were a little short and I need a little more to complete the wall. It is not enough to order a premix, and as I have access to a small mixer I was hoping to do the 'top up' myself. All of the 'recipes' I have seen, most talk about a 6 to 1 mix. So a couple of questions on this. 1: Is it by weight or volume? I assume volume, that is 6 shovels of aggregate to 1 of cement? 2: all mention to add enough water to make it like a paste. Does anyone have a more accurate recipe? Say, 6 shovels aggregate 1 shovel Cement and 'x' litres water? Thanks Brad Re: Retaining wall - no fines backfill 2Oct 25, 2014 8:29 am You will be best using a single sized agregate 6 shovels of aggregate to one of cement should be OK Water to cement ration is best by weight and you should aim for a bit less than 0.5 L of water per kg of cement. (its not critical for top up but more important for big pours) The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get !
