Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Oct 16, 2014 6:36 pm Hi all, My builder has quoted $6450 to prep yard and lay turf as part of the building process. Quite a bit of cash when I would rather spend the money on the house itself. I am thinking of just spreading some grass seed and watering it (or wait until wet season when we get lots of rain in the tropics). Have most of you done your own turfing/grassing after handover?? It was cheaper that way, and eventually we had the best lawn in the street. We were 600m from the ocean as well. http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b609/WestAussieforeva/SANY0029_zps0d3cc675.jpg You can prep for your lawn yourself, by looking up Fu's instructions on the landscaping thread. They using concrete or timber sleepers? Timber or steel uprights? Any drainage behind sleeper? 3 5874 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17590 Hi, did you get any money from insurance? if you did, does it match what you've already paid the builders? 3 9565 |
