We've got 7 Magnolia Little Gems in our backyard...they are in built up brick garden beds. So the beds are about 2 feet high with a brick retaining wall. They get quite a lot of westerly sun so it's a hot spot. Last shocking summer they got fried - we were away when we had all those 40+ days in Melbourne.
I've rigged up some shade cloth that can cover them on the hot days now. I also want to mulch them as well.
So just wanting some advice on what type of mulch I should use.
And any other tips for getting some life back into my Little Gems. They're looking a bit spindly...have been through this before unfortunately!
Thanks in advance.
