Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Aug 27, 2014 10:06 pm Hi, I laid an clothed agi pipe behind my retaining wall. I covered the pipe with 12 cm deep blue stones on top, and 7 cm on side. The pipe was laid with gradient at 2 in 100. I found the platform like a swamp due to the recent heavy rain. But I didn't see water run through the agi pipe. I am wondering is this because I did not wrape the aggregates with geo fabric? And where I can buy the geo fabric? Thank you. Re: agi pipe not working 2Aug 28, 2014 5:52 am Geofabric won't help with your issue. If you want to keep the area at the top of the retaining wall from getting swampy you need to run bluestone all the way up the back of the wall. Any surface run off should be diverted away from the wall! But most people put gardens behind their walls which soak up rainfall. As the fill behind the wall is typically fairly loose a lot of water will soak in and the soil becomes swampy. The purpose of the bluestone against the back of the wall is to relieve pressure over the full height of the wall, not take away surface water. A side benefit, rather than the main benefit, is that it will reduce the 'Swampy area' The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Did you lay the agi pipe at the base of the back of retaining wall or higher up? Re: agi pipe not working 6Aug 28, 2014 10:28 pm Hi, thank you everybody. I laid the agi pipe at the base of the back of my retaining wall. After heavy rain, there is a lot of water leaking from the gaps of the blocks of my other retaining wall. So I am just wondering why there is no water running out from the agi pipe. Re: agi pipe not working 7Sep 23, 2014 5:15 pm petershaw Hi, thank you everybody. I laid the agi pipe at the base of the back of my retaining wall. After heavy rain, there is a lot of water leaking from the gaps of the blocks of my other retaining wall. So I am just wondering why there is no water running out from the agi pipe. The cloth around the pipe has probably got clogged with fine material that has been washed into it. Re: agi pipe not working 8Sep 23, 2014 7:07 pm I put socked 100mm agi pipe in the ground, with 20mm gravel around it but now geotextile above it, and after just a couple of heavy rain periods the water is simply not draining away. I then dug up a section of it down to the socked agi pipe, and the water still didn't drain away, so peeled the sock away from the pipe, and it then started to drain away. Unfortunately that didn't last long as it blocked up again, so I pulled out the cordless drill and drilled a few 6mm holes in it, and the water happily drained away then. Clearly you need to stop the clay'ish water from getting anywhere near the agi pip, by trapping it in geotextile laid above the top of the gravel that's above the agi pipe, and in my case having the agi pipe closer to the surface than where it ended up being. It wasn't the same model, but the symptoms were pretty much the same: the compressor would start and then stop… 3 7538 Okay sorry silly me, my wife has solves the mystery for me. It’s because the labels on the ports are all wrongly positioned by the builder hence it confuses me. 2 1380 yep sounds good make the footing bigger to to allow for the pipe in the middle 3 7321 |
