I'm looking at removing the pebbled/paved border around my yard and putting down new soil / lawn.
Yard size: 7m x 9m

If I remove the border myself, I've been quoted $2000 to remove the existing Sir Walter, and lay rolls of Kikuyu grass across the whole expanded yard.
I've read that Kikuyu is aggressive - so my question is: if instead I simply plant Kikuyu seed on new topsoil in the area where I'm removing the pavers/pebbles - will the Kikuyu gradually out-compete the existing Sir Walter until aim just left with Kikuyu across the whole lawn? I realise this would be a more gradual process; but it'd also cost a whole lot less...
Any info appreciated.
