Hello,
I live in a the cooler climes of Victoria and was wondering if anyone could help me with three questions. We are getting a new east-west aligned fence put in along our northern boundary and I want to screen the fence/neighbours house. We are on a regular suburban block with about 1200mm between our house and the fence. Obviously the roots have to be fence & neighbour friendly.
1) Is there a recommended distance you should plant trees away from a fenceline?
2) We'd like 2-3m tall deciduous trees for outside our living room window (north facing) so we get the winter sun inside. Fruit trees would be great because they're productive but I'm interested in all options. What could you recommend?
3) We'd like 2-3m native/evergreen trees in our front yard along the fenceline (which becomes much lower in this section) to make it as private as possible (it is one of outdoor relaxo spaces and don't need the neighbours looking in as lovely as they are. Currently their living room window looks directly out onto this space). What could you recommend?
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
With many thanks,
Bette
