We have an over 15m tall Cape Lilac tree in our 10x10m back yard. Lovely, shady tree, but 10 out of 12 months our lawn is scattered all over with its toxic berries. Which has been fine until now, with my 14mth old running around. We've kept him out of the back yard so far, but he's getting more active. Is my only option, if I want him to be able to access the backyard, to remove the tree? Even when I watched him like a hawk he has managed to sneak a piece of woodchip or something into his mouth.
I don't mind not having those pesky cape lilac caterpillers around either.
And should I be concerned, if I do remove the tree, about the windergreen lawn underneath? We're in metro WA.
Hope to get some advice.
