Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jul 24, 2014 2:52 pm Hi All, building a house with a custom builder and managed to get landscaping as part of the build contract. we have a small backyard and bought hortico tough and drought hardy lawn seeds on the site supervisors advice, as what was being provided was a very cheap lawn seed ($5 a bag). has anyone used these seeds and if so, what has been the outcome? was it a decent looking lawn? Cheers, Nab Re: Landscaping, Gardening for New House 2Jul 26, 2014 1:32 pm Not sure about that particular lawn seed but its difficult to get a great lawn without weeds using a lawn seed. I went through the same process after my custom build, did a 150sqm area in seed after following Fu's lawn advice and it grew along with all the weeds. After doing a selective spray that was recommended for my variety of lawn, it killed half of it, so just bit the bullet and put down turf. May cost a bit more but for a small space nothing beats roll out turf for a good long term lawn. Good luck Re: Landscaping, Gardening for New House 3Sep 20, 2014 11:51 am Hi BillyD, my brother used that type of seed I think but weeds did emerge as well... it was lush though. I think it had some type of fescu(?) in the mix. Eventually he rolled turf the same type. If you are in a reactive clay area west of Melbourne you need to avoid fast growing trees and even slow growing trees that eventually finish up large (many conifers for instance), cheers Leonardo_23 Looking for some advice on pool surround planting. We have roughly 500mm wide garden bed around the edge of our pool. Depth of the bed is only around 250-300mm to top… 0 3877 I ended up going with 'Andrew Belic Construction Co.' https://www.instagram.com/andrewbelicconstruction/ 2 59686 Hmmm, I have checked your past posts and it seems that you are in NSW, not WA as I had thought. It pays to show your State in your avatar. Retaining wall regulations… 5 7866 |
