Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design Re: New Home Landscape Design - Kensington WA 22Jul 14, 2014 5:33 pm I prefer the curved design... especially for kids. It just seems more usable and less formal. ______________________________________________________________________ Signed up Jan 2013........Almost done! The landscape design just doesn't feel right, but I'm not quite sure what is not right. I still need to add a spot for some raised veggie patches, but I find them a bit of an eye sore and I'm not sure where best to place them. We were also talking today about the possibility of screening off a small garden shed behind the existing lemon tree at the back right of the block. Now that the pad is down, it's also easier to visualize how the front will look, so that's another job to get on to (designing that). We were planning on having a front fence, but I think I'm changing my mind about that too. I think I have commitment issues My New Home Build with Dale Alcock - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66662 Landscape Design Thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=71784 Re: New Home Landscape Design - Kensington WA 29Sep 14, 2014 1:00 am I've been playing around in Sketchup. I think I'm getting carried away! This design is getting too busy, but I like how the trampoline is elevated and I've also added an area for a veggie patch. I also like the idea of having some steps that can be lit up and used for seating. What are those rectangular things to the left of the trampoline? Re: New Home Landscape Design - Kensington WA 31Sep 15, 2014 12:19 am Raised veggie planters. I'm finding it really hard to locate a veggie patch that doesn't really mess with having a simple design. I'm probably going to take then out and just use purchased wine barrels or similar as we need them. That's what I thought they were but thought I'd check. I think you could simplify it by removing the steps between the playground and trampoline and having them both on one level as one big play area. And maybe rotating the trampoline 90 degrees would give you more room to the left of it. Re: New Home Landscape Design - Kensington WA 33Nov 03, 2014 11:27 pm It looks fantastic (though I did like the curves). Lots of interest. When the kids outgrow the trampoline you can plonk a jacuzzi in it's place! I also like that you seem to be planning to grow money on those two trees on the right. I've redesigned it to keep the existing frangipani which is in the centre of the back yard (hopefully it doesn't take too long to come back to life and look good again). I've also settled on having a kids cubby house up the back and the trampoline in the back left. The colour palette and finishes will change but the general layout will be like this... It currently looks like this My New Home Build with Dale Alcock - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66662 Landscape Design Thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=71784 Re: New Home Landscape Design - Kensington WA 35Nov 24, 2014 1:03 am We've been thinking of using Millboard for the decking because it's no maintenance. I understand it also doesn't scratch like some of the other composite products. Does anyone have any experience with Millboard? Never heard of millboard I'm afraid so I'm no help there. viewtopic.php?t=72683 Re: New Home Landscape Design - Kensington WA 38Dec 11, 2014 1:12 am I think we've decided to go with a timber deck. The millboard product is around 400 installed. Spotted gum installed is about 220. For the price difference I can live with needing to oil it every six months.
