Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Oct 04, 2014 11:38 am Hi, Long time forum reader, first time poster. About 3 weeks ago we installed 300m2 of Empire Zyosia, following all the amazing tips I acquired here from Fu Manchu and others. The weekly seasol, power feed and molasses seems to be giving it a good kick, after some initial browning off the green seems to be starting to come out in it nicely. Which brings me to the little buggers in the photos linked below. I've found them in two places now in ~300mm square patch and there is lots of them. When you walk in the area they jump all over your legs but I don't seem to be getting bitten by them. The photos aren't ideal due to the size of the critters but if anyone has any ideas as to what they might be (and if treatment is required) I'd really appreciate it, we have a young daughter and a dog so if they are biters or going to cause them any inflammation I'd like to get rid of them asap. We're in Ipswich, west of Brisbane if that helps at all. After ~15 minutes a heap of these little buggers had arrived and where somewhat swarming all over it. I took some more photos (4 and 5 at the above link). I was hoping this behaviour might trigger a thought in someone given there has been no luck in tracking down what they might be yet, I've been in touch with the turf supplier and they don't know either. Puzzling. Re: Help identifying 'pest' in new turf 5Oct 25, 2014 10:00 am I got your link open, thinking may be african lawn beatles, but no never seen those bugs before. We use Yates Baythroid to control african lawn beatles in our lawn that will most likely kill your ones as well. Not sure if its suitable for new lawns though.
