Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 May 13, 2014 12:12 pm I have a 3000m2 block, after house (350m2), sheds (220m2), Drive ways (300m2) and Gardens (250m2) leaving me with approx 1800m2 of turf required. I can get the turf for about $8.80 per m2 so if was to toally use the turf to cover would cost $15,840... I'm thinking because Sir Walter doesnt grow from seed and turf farms obviously manage to grow great amounts there must be a way i can use less product initially and cultivate it? Would i be right in thinking the below would work? Use 1m2 of turf me 5m2 area by cutting the 1m2 piece into smaller say 10cmx10cm squares (100 squares per m2) and then put down a good sandy loam underturf and place the 10cmx10cm pieces evenly around the 5m2 area (20cm gaps). would this be enough turf (1m2) to fill the 5m2 area realtively quickly (within 1 yr) do you think? This would reduce the total cost to about $4,000. http://www.betterthansheets.com.au - Why use sheets for curtains in your brand new home use Better Than Sheets Temporary Paper blinds instead! I don't know much about it but it sounds very interesting and am thinking about it for our block (nowhere near as big as yours!). Re: Most Economical way of using Sir Walter on a 3000m2 bloc 4May 14, 2014 5:52 pm Hydro seeding - if it is what I think it is - where they sort of hose it on and it all looks green - does work. Some councils use it. Looking at long term goals though - and service needs - could you approach a turf company and seek a deal. Maybe put up a sign for them. Keep us up to date on how it works out for you. I'm in a similar situation to you with a 4661 sqm block that will need to be done. I've initially seeded my block with Jap Millet in order to get something to grow to bind the soil together, particulary as we're on a very sloping block and don't want it to all wash away. ![]() Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. ![]() Blog : http://bandlnewhomebuild.blogspot.com H1 thread : viewtopic.php?f=38&t=68283 .
