Hi everybody - first time user
We have a raised garden bed which borders our driveway. We desparately want to grow a number of blueberry bushes in the garden bed, however I want to inter-plant them with one or two 3 - 4 metre trees. So far, I have the following in the 'potential' list: Tibouchina, Crepe Myrtle, Crab apple, Gardenia (larger variety) because they seem to like an acidic soil - just like blueberries. The root system MUST not be invasive. The site is in full sun, will cop a cold frosty westerly wind in winter, but regular 30+ days in Summer. As blueberries are deciduous, I was going for something evergreen. While it will take away some sun - it may protect the blueberries from the harsh summer days (and also be a lot less mess to clean up off the driveway).
Has anybody got any comments to help eliminate the small options I have so far - or to add any other possibilities?
Thanks in advance!
