Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Apr 29, 2014 3:46 pm Hi all, I would like to make stone path with pebbles surround for my side yard. Hoping it would look something like this http://www.tuscanpath.com.au/images/pavers7.jpg Courtesy of qonyx: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=46973 Do I need a layer of paving sand before I lay the stone paver using cement?? I have compacted the soil and bought 600*300*20mm stone pavers. thanks Re: Stone path with pebbles surround 2Apr 29, 2014 5:39 pm No, the pavers can be laid directly onto a built up mortar base. Sand is normally used on larger areas and mortar is used around the edge to lock it all in, basically saving on the mess and cost of using mortar across larger areas. In your case each paver will just be locked in where it is. Re: Stone path with pebbles surround 3Apr 30, 2014 2:15 pm You will need some sort of edging as well. Timber is the cheapest to use and the easiest to install. Just dig the edging to the required depth and nail it to some timber pegs in the ground.
