Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Apr 10, 2014 11:16 pm Hi All, I am not a green thumb and neither is my partner. I need some help with landscaping our front garden. We are on a bit of a slope. We have a 2m retaining wall along one side and then a 1m decreasing to 600mm across the front. We didn't get a higher retaining wall across the front as we didn't want to appear to be in a ditch and have a huge wall in front of the window. On the left hand side (looking at house on high side) you can see down the side of the house so I want to put something high there but don't want to 'cover' the front of the house. There is also the issue of retaining the bit between the wall and electrical box. The soil is very clay based. Any ideas on good plants to use would be welcomed. Thanking you all in advance http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/y472/amancharmar/imagejpg5_zps1ed7d614.jpg http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/y472/amancharmar/imagejpg1_zpsde098ee9.jpg http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/y472/amancharmar/imagejpg2_zpsd76b7422.jpg http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/y472/amancharmar/imagejpg3_zpse23e54b2.jpg http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/y472/amancharmar/imagejpg4_zps7ff04751.jpg Re: Help needed with sloping front landscaping. Ideas please.... 5Apr 20, 2014 1:44 am You could run a smaller retaining wall parallel to footpath and in line with the meters; that would hold the soil area and allow you to create a garden area and install a (for example) limestone pillared fence with slats, for privacy. As for the side path, install a taller gate to prevent people from seeing down the side of the house whilst they are standing on the footpath. I recently finished my house and after landscaping, have begun to plan a fence. To be honest its been a bit of an afterthought so I'm after some much needed advice. The… 0 2055 Howdy all.
