Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Mar 31, 2014 12:23 pm Hi Guys I am confused about how do we design our driveway. We have left whole landscaping out of the building contract. But we thought we'll finish the driveway as this is estate requirement within 3 months of moving in. We are building with UEH and this facade https://lh3.ggpht.com/yXzvimQsJRGAAhSzg ... gTWJQ=s170 Option 01: Having driveway like in facade image two parallel straight edges Option 02: Have one straight and other diagonal leading to doorway Option 03: Have one straight and other concave Also if you have any thoughts would you increase the width of the driveway more than the council driveway? Re: Modern Driveway Design 2Apr 01, 2014 4:50 pm Hi macmaz, You must be getting to the end if you are considering your driveway. I bet you are super excited to move in if you haven't already. For my two cents worth, I would consider a straight driveway as shown in the picture to be the simplest and most straightforward option. This then allows for two cars to park side by side. Once you start tapering and changing the shape of driveways then it limits where cars can park. Also, it depends on the remainder of your front landscaping. If you have a particular vision for how your front garden would look then I would incorporate it into that design. It depends on Councils and developers too about the minimum and maximum widths of crossovers. I would check with your guidelines what the permissible widths are. Usually they are either a maximum of 4.5m or 5.5m. You shouldn't really need anything wider than 5.5m. I would also suggest having the front path to your door as shown on the picture. Possibly you could get it done at the same time. Having a separate path to your front door is mainly for visitors but puts more emphasis on the entry to your home rather than just the garage. I hope this helps. Cheers, Jenny. Need hints, tips and inspiration? Join me on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ournewhomecoach Who am I? That should be up to you unless there is any maximum site coverage figure or hard landscaping requirement. I wouldn't see it as too much of a problem. I wish you the best of luck with it. Put the images on photobucket etc and copy and paste the img tag here so we don't have to go to a third party site. Not only is your max crossover width determined by council guidelines as Jenny already said, most times the driveway width at the front boundary is as well. I'd check their requirements before you go to much further. Stewie To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9794 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10889 |
