Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Mar 18, 2014 9:30 pm Hello All, I've currently built a C shaped garden box using Besser Blocks which will be filled with soil. The wall is 600mm high with the longest two lengths of the wall being 12m and 15 m. The bricks are 390mmx140mmx190mm, and the foundation was 420mm deep and 400mm wide. I used steel in the wall which I tied into the foundation along with some steel running across connecting it all up & then I've core filled the blocks with concrete. My issue is that I forgot to leave a 10mm gap to add in some caulking/expansion joint in the wall at approx the middle of the two long lengths of the wall. Will it still be alright if I cut into the middle of the two walls (Straight through) in the middle using a diamond blade and then caulk the area to allow for any movement of the wall to reduce any cracking appearing where it shouldn't? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Re: besser Block Garden Box adding expansion/caulking 2Mar 19, 2014 9:32 am You should be fine. Will you be cutting through any longitudinal reo as well? I'm just concerned that you may get rust occurring if you cut it. I'd also cut the 12m wall into two but the 15m wall into three. Most masonry walls should have construction joins every 6m max.
