Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Mar 13, 2014 3:43 pm Hi Everyone, We are currently in lock up stage with Plantation homes and would love a timber deck once finished. The issue which we didn't even think about is there is only a 20mm step-down from inside to the alfresco, Does anyone know how how much i am looking at to cut the alfresco slab to be able to fit a timber deck. Is it also possible to have 10mm timber bearers? I didn't feel I should raise a new thread We are having a similar type of alfresco area built but it's more a courtyard as it won't be under cover (and it's a bit bigger)... anyway what is the advised step down? The builder was spec'ing 80mm but we're thinking of paving so we've asked for 100mm - 125mm to allow for sand and pavers. Do we need the sand? A friend of mine suggested we just treat them like tiles and grout it or even get tiles that look like pavers. Re: Outdoor Slab Help 4May 01, 2014 8:19 am Thanks Matt! I'm now checking with the builder if we can increase the drop to 2 courses of brick so we can put recycled brick in... May be a bit annoying until we pave it! The drainage is something I asked about and apparently they put a slope in. It's not written anywhere that I noticed in the contract... Should it be? Thanks for letting us know.
