Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Feb 12, 2014 10:14 pm Hi all, has anyone got a wall garden ? If so what plants have you found successful ? I like the kind that is flat to the wall with the little weed mat pockets, not the container type! I have seen one at a display home which was mostly cactus and mondo grass! Any thoughts???advise? Ideas? Re: Wall garden 2Feb 13, 2014 2:14 pm Hi, I would be interested in recommended plants also. I have just ordered 2 of the jamie durie green wall pocket blankets to cover a fence next to our alfresco area. I was thinking ferns and bromeliads? http://www.jamiedurie.com/site/products ... 58d39dff66 Re: Wall garden 3Feb 13, 2014 8:24 pm Hi l just had a look at JD that looks similar to the one I saw at a display home, l want one that the plants can grow over and along making it look like a wall not a bunch of pots hanging from the wall, I have a photo, but l can't seem to down load it, try again, Re: Wall garden 5Feb 15, 2014 3:15 pm Hi Sanna, I find the best way to get a great wall garden to suit your ideas is to go to Bunnings, have them cut a piece of weldmesh to the size and shape you want, then put a 4x4 post either side of the gap and and fix the weldmesh to it and put a 140mm. pot in each hole to get the effect you want.Doing it this way enables you to use the plants to make a mural or just have one colour to suit your décor. This also saves you around 50% on cost and the beauty of this system is if one plant dies you just take out the pot and replace itwith a new one. I think it will take some time to work out which plants do the best, also the sunlight, we are building so l am yet to work out the light, ect, we will have a large alfresco area , and very little back yard so l want walls of green , Re: Wall garden 7Feb 16, 2014 3:25 pm Hi Sanna, if you have an open space and you want a dividing wall you can make a :box: out of two sheets of weldmesh but only have the sheets about 40 cm.apart, line it with carpet underlay and fill with soil. Then cut a cross in each of the squares and plant whatever you like in it. It is a really good time when you are building and you can design everything the way you want it to be. Best of luck and hope you enjoy every minute of it, Topiarius Re: Wall garden 8Feb 16, 2014 8:44 pm We have a mix of Bromeliads, Dichondra Silver Falls, Mondo grass, Maidenhair Ferns, Sedum (a yellow variety, can't recall name) and Philodendron Rojo Congo. Takes a few months to grow in, and the hot weather knocked around two of the maidenhair. Thank you again Simeon.. I will call my certifier for that.
