Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Feb 05, 2014 8:59 am Hi everyone, For a tasman block retaining wall, core filled with concrete, built on a re-enforced concrete footing, back filled with blue metal and agline. capped. 13.2m2 total area. (starting height at one end is abit over 1m the wall tapers down to finish at only 1 block height) Including rock excavation and removal (we know there is a heap of rock there). $6285+gst Seems a little hefty, but its a decent wall and including rock removal and everything seems pretty good. I've seen the guys work and he does a really good job. I've had a couple quotes and one came in slightly under and the other slightly over, but I like this guy better. I'm thinking ill just give the go-ahead and get it over and done with. What do you guys think? Re: Retaining wall cost, fair? 2Feb 05, 2014 9:05 am Sounds like he's doing a top job. Have you got any other quotes ? I always like 3 - if I'm going for a price like this. Re: Retaining wall cost, fair? 3Feb 05, 2014 9:15 am Yeah I did, they were all within about 1k of each other. One slightly more, one a bit less. This guys quote fell in the middle. I know it can be done cheaper, but I do want it done properly and so it will last. I had some guys quote me a lot less but state that their quote was not including rock excavation. When I asked them how much extra rock excavation would be they won't/can't tell me. This guy has offered a fixed price for the rock removal, which I like. I was going to attempt it myself, but its probably just a bit big for me to do. I know how much rock is there and that makes it a bit daunting too. Hi, we live in an area where the black soil is prone to a lot of movement. We have an old 50's house with masonite everywhere and nails popping out, warping, rusted etc.… 0 4495 Thank you again Simeon.. I will call my certifier for that. Have a good day 4 5108 Thanks for the insights, that makes perfect sense, and yeah, I will be leaning on the experience of the excavator operator entirely. 6 16048 |
