Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 22, 2014 1:45 am I want to build a 2ML farm dam and am currently preparing my permit application. Has anyone here gone through the process? As you would expect they want you to tell them location and the design etc. I'm trying to get my head around spillways and the angle of the walls and everything else and am at the stage of just guessing. I've got a bloke I want to build it and he said get your permit and he'll come and build it. What do people normally do? Is everyone else, except me, clued up on these matters? PS. I'm not quite sure which forum I should be in so I took a punt on this one. Re: Building a dam 2Jan 22, 2014 8:41 pm just be sure to have as wide a spillway as possible, as erosion on a narrow spillway will ruin the look very quickly. Also be sure that the ground has clay in it, or you'll have a dam that goes down fairly quickly, or one with massive rainfall could wash away. I'm assuming that you are at least on 5 - 10 acres if not more to put such a dam on it. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld.
