Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 02, 2014 3:19 pm Hi folks Wondering if anyone would know where I could buy/look/scour for some large round wooden posts - pretty much like old lamp posts (in diameter), but in 1-2m lengths??? I haven't ever seen them at gardening supply places, but then again, it's been a while and it's not like I've been interested in them before now so maybe just never noticed them?? But if anyone has seen anything like this in their travels and care to let me know where I might be able to look, it would be greatly appreciated. We are in SE Melbourne - but would travel in any direction (within reason) to get what we are after. Cheers HHCIB I think you are looking for treated pine poles... all garden centres sell them, as do Bunnings - various lengths are available. http://www.bunnings.com.au/pine-pole-cc ... d_p0123030 If you want larger diameter, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Power-Poles- ... dda&_uhb=1 Ed "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy. Mind you, now to get picky, was looking for something a bit more 'uniform' than what they look in that photo (ie, prefer them to be an even finish) - but a great place to start and they might end up being OK - especially if I can't find EXACTLY what I'm looking for. I did google 'lamp posts' but not much came up - didn't even think of good ol' eBay!! Thinking more - they might even be more like boating bolsters or things you see along jettys/wharfs. Doesn't matter where they come from - I just want nice thick(ish) round poles..... Thanks for taking the time to post the links Ed - good on ya Cheers HHCIB Re: Sourcing large round timber posts 4Jan 03, 2014 7:22 am Welcome. It's timber bollards you want then... http://www.barlings.com.au/html/bollards_0.html#top Ed "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy. I did actually come across them in my google search - and upon my very brief look, thought they all looked too small still. But after you re-directing me back there, I see that they custom make (and have some great ideas for other things in some of their images too). So looks like they might be the place to start. And for the record, they are for some uprights in our backgarden (either in the lawn or within a grassy planted area), just to create a bit of interest and play area for the kids. Saw them at a park recently and liked the idea. Or.... to create a bit of 'screen' to detract from our garden shed. I'm sure they won't be cheap, might end up being out of our budget - but no harm in enquiring. Thanks again Ed HHCIB I need to replace some lengths of aluminum shower frame but I can't seem to find any suppliers of this stuff. Neither the blue or orange home centers carry these things.… 0 5403 consider putting in wall WC instead of robe in the same bedroom, then it might be doable to hook up to the existing piping. 4 6634 4 4500 |
