The area is 1.5m wide and with the fence and house only gets partial shade Im also after something that doesn't get too big Any suggestions? Re: Trees for dead side of house? 2Dec 30, 2013 11:51 pm Very difficult if you really want trees. I can picture a somewhat formal narrow hedge of shrubs. Are you up for regular pruning? Do you need space to walk down that side? What's on the other side of the fence? Re: Trees for dead side of house? 3Dec 31, 2013 9:02 am What about one of the smaller clumping bamboos. Just make sure it is a clumping sort not a running one. Some of them only grow to 3-4 m Re: Trees for dead side of house? 4Dec 31, 2013 12:46 pm JazzyJess Very difficult if you really want trees. What's on the other side of the fence? we never use that side to walk down because we are on a corner block and have a back gate. Nothing but a road on the other side of the fence. might look at the bamboo. thanks Re: Trees for dead side of house? 5Dec 31, 2013 2:04 pm LTL JazzyJess Very difficult if you really want trees. As was warned, make sure its the clumping type of bamboo, tho I have read that even clumping bamboo while not invasive can get a biggish perimeter so allow for that. (Its why I'm still procrastinating. I have a strip but it's much narrower than yours. I was excited to learn of clumping bamboo but I think my strip is too narrow.) Re: Trees for dead side of house? 7Dec 31, 2013 7:56 pm You could look at Agonis Flexuosa 'Burgundy' ?? They spring to mind because we are currently considering them for a screen type of tree along our back fenceline?? HHCIB Re: Trees for dead side of house? 8Jan 01, 2014 4:31 am ^^ They would work. Can also get this in a pale verigated version. Of just tick to a peppy- they are happy to be trimmed. What about a shrub rather than a tree. Maybe a large grevillea?
