If so, what colour are they? Leaves look a bit like a native frangapani or possibly a fiddlewood. Thanks for your reply! It seems to have some flower buds so will wait and see. But it doesn't seem to me to be either of these unfortunately. A native tree/one that suits Perth climate would he perfect! Check with your local council whether they would be able to identify it. Some councils have a nursery & may be happy to identify if you take a small cutting to them. Good luck Re: What is this tree? with picture 9Nov 07, 2013 12:05 pm I don't think it's a native frangipani - I have one and it's got darker green leaves and a more horizontal, layered growth habit in its foliage. My suggestion is to wait until it flowers and then take a bloom into your local nursery as ko27 has said - apparently it's much easier to identify a plant from its flower than its leaves. I had to get a botanist friend of my family to identify my frangipani as it didn't flower for the first few years! Did the people who gave it to you have any idea what it was? Re: What is this tree? with picture 11Nov 07, 2013 11:14 pm Razza Hmmm, I'll take a punt. It looks like a young camphor laurel tree. Good luck Yep I think I'll do that. I did ask my aunt and she didn't know and she knows everything about plants! I hope it's not privet. If it is it will be replaced with jacaranda Recently moved to a 60's home in need of some improvement! http://s797.photobucket.com/user/leenii ... ch%20House Old house: http://s797.photobucket.com/albums/yy25 ... loo/House/ Re: What is this tree? with picture 14Dec 02, 2013 10:44 pm Not yet! I just bought a few acres in Habana, Mackay, and my horses seem to love hanging around under this tree. I would like to name the paddock after this tree. Can… 0 9543 Fellow Perth dweller. Looks like pruns nigra. It's a dark leaf flowering plum. Doesn't get massive and is easily trimmed deciduous tree. Very popular in small gardens in Perth 7 2774 |
