Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Oct 06, 2013 8:54 am Hi all, house is pretty much completed now and all i need to do is our landscaping. Only problem is ive pretty much got a brown thumb and dont know where to start. Might be a stupid question but is there like a landscape planner/schedule? of what should be done first to the end? ive got my landscape plans and a bare yard. Im guessing the first thing i should do is go around collecting all the concrete and crushed rock laying around and then looking at fixing the clay soil which stinks of rotten eggs when i dug through it. Just have a few questions to start off with: - Is the garden bed soil be treated the same way as area where i will by rolling or seeding (havent decided which way to go) my turf? - Is it better to do the garden beds plants and then the turf or doesnt really matter? - i already have 2 trees in the area i need to landscape so when i get my rotary hoe how close can i go to them without affecting the root system? - Im in the Knox city area in Melbourne. Anyone recommend a good place to buy garden supplies (soil etc in bulk) and nursery for plants around here? - i read that when laying turf i should build a good base but how do i work out how much organic soil id need to bring in for around 100sqm, is currently sitting 10-15cm below the driveway and compacting will be involved? any help would be appreciated! thanks Lob Re: Brown thumbs questions about landscaping 2Oct 08, 2013 10:33 am Look up Fu Manchu's thread for some tips or PM him.
