Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 11, 2013 9:35 pm Hi, I bought 2*100litre bags of perlite, which I think might be too much, but anyway. I've got 35square meters where I intend to lay turf out the back on Saturday, and another 30 or 40 square metres out the front where some kind of seed will go down. I will also be planting a few more native plants which I assume could use a little perlite as welll. Can someone please help me with how much per square metre? I'm assuming till the soil then add zeolite, perlite, mycoapply defense, powerfeed, then run the rotary hoe over the soil to break it all into the soil to a depth of 300-400mm. Then even it out, compact, and lay the turf. Then add molasses, seasol, perhaps a wetting agent. Thanks Re: How much perlite per square metre? 2Sep 22, 2013 6:23 pm I'm pretty sure Fu recommends about 1L per sqm. I'm in the process of doing the same thing and am planning to order two bags for 150sqm. Found it: Fu Manchu In a clay soil, heaps This stuff will permanently aerate the soil for you. Lighten it, fluff it up a bit. It also allows the soil to soak up water very well but assist in reducing the effects of water logging in heavier soils. It, like zeolite, reduces nutrient leaching. They act a little different but have an overall role to play in the garden. About 1ltr per m2 would be lots. I'd be inclined to use less but it won't hurt or damage anything if you over do it. And some on the nature strip which is 40sqm Re: How much perlite per square metre? 4Sep 24, 2013 8:03 am I wonder if this is contributing to my current issue, I suspect I may not have wet the ground enough before compacting.... Because now when I step on the turf some of it sinks in, the soil below it has gone soggy and moved around, creating small hills in the turf. I assume once established I can throw some soil on top and the grass will eventually grow through it...any help appreciated The nature strip also has giant sink holes, my foot nearly went through it a good 10cm. Along with 2 cars and 1 truck deciding that even though it has seed, a stake, and a pallet on the nature strip, they should still drive through it while avoiding those objects. 1) I had requested R6 ceiling insualtion batts, however I noticed that on some areas there are huge gaps which will allow hot air to sweep in, and also noticed black/grey… 0 3603 No idea about the driveway question, but your price for a house that size including landscaping seems very good! 1 6165 7 12018 |
