Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 05, 2013 2:21 pm Strange question... but valid. We have a post box and won't be (already don't) utilising the postal delivery service. We're on a few acres on the outskirts of town - the house is mid block so any one trying to visit will have to firmly cross into our land, and we probably won't ever remember to walk down and check a post box. Front entrance way to the house is a portico with a large pivot door - no plans to put anything out there except maybe a lovely wood bench to take your boots off at and sit with a cuppa in the winter sun. What else does a post box get used for apart from ... post? We'll do some other form of signage I guess to show our lot or street number/identify our property (mind you having 70m of bright purple bougs growing all along the sheep fence will be pretty distinctive!). Thoughts? Re: Do we need a letterbox? 2Sep 05, 2013 2:59 pm I work for several utility companies and we often hand deliver notices to the post boxes of all houses in a street when we are doing works.
