Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 04, 2013 3:27 pm Hi. We have a stormwater pit at the back corner of our property. I would like to raise it to the same height of the existing retaining wall (about 500mm). I would then like to fill the backyard in so its more level. Currently the section where the pit is about 500mm lower than the rest of the backyard. Ive spoken to council and they have said its a private asset so its up to my neighbours and i to agree on any changes. Is this easy to raise? Or should i build a retaining wall around it and fill that way? Re: What can I do with this stormwater pit? 2Sep 04, 2013 4:51 pm It's not to difficult to raise. but depending on the regulations in your state you may need to get a plumber to make the alterations. Re: What can I do with this stormwater pit? 4Sep 06, 2013 10:06 pm We had this issue. Our landscaper raised ours by 600mm. You can by pre fab concrete that go over the hole and stack on top of each other. No issue for it to get done. I had ours raised 600mm not quite 3 years ago by Sydney water for no cost, they have a group that they use for repairs etc and this was just another job for them - done in around an hour, they just fitted a couple of pre-fab collars ontop of the pit and moved the lid up, then I just filled in around it with soil to bring it up to the new level of the backyard. I also have a sewer pit which was raised by sydney water for free last week. I had a plumber come out and look at the stormwater pit and he said they could get a concrete riser (from ROCLAR) for it but it would weigh around 400kg and they would have to crane it into the backyard. Too costly. We will retain around it.
