Easy to pick, if there's fish in the pond, then it's fresh water...and no chlorine.

Err....once it's in my hands don't take the lack of fish of as a sign of a chlorinated pond....may just be the pond attendant's lack of appreciation of fish ecosystems.... :shock:

Unless they are salt water fish - or have been brought home from the local pool - after their chlorine breathing lessons

I like the idea Nic but I might consider putting the water feature on one wall and fireplace on another wall (if that is possible).

This would give you two aspects to look at.

I'm not a fan of the shutters on the side (possibly as they compete with the stone, brick and render) but I love the idea of the outdoor fireplace and water feature.
Just not sure if I would put them together. Although I could get mystical on your and say the two elements are actually compatible (fire + water) :wink:

I know lots of good carp recipes....There was a cook book in Poland called 101 recipes with Carp :shock:

Carp are common in the European rivers and the problem is Australians just aren't familiar with cooking them. But here's a widely recommended recipe.

Take a decent sized carp and clean it. Don't bother trying to scale it or fillet it - just gut it and wash it clean as you can.

Find a board large enough to lay the fish on. Some say oak is best - that's a bit hard to find...I prefer a nice blackwood - sweeter flavor.

Bring the oven to 180 degrees. Baste the carp with a mixture of butter and garlic, a pinch of salt is ok, too.

Cook the carp in the oven on the board for about an hour; basting it about every 15 minutes.

Remove carp from the board, toss the carp aside and enjoy the board.

Like I say, blackwood is a little sweeter.
