My experience is that citrus will lean away from the fence if it is planted in the shade. Thanks SaveH2O, The fence is just a low (1 meter) rural fence so it doesn't cast any shadow. The fenceline basically runs north-south and the garden bed will be on the west side. There is a house on the east side but I think it is far enough away so that it won't shade the garden bed.
