Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Apr 07, 2013 10:39 pm Hi all, Looking for some advice as we have the oppertunity to be given 2 x 2m magnolia trees. We would ideally like to plant them in a garden bed approx 1m from our pool. The trees would screen out neighbors nicely but, will the root system seek and damage pool foundations? Also will the trees become quite messy? A bit of mess ok but not a lot, seed pods etc. Thanks very much for your help xx Re: Magnolia tree near pool? 2Apr 18, 2013 11:42 pm We got the trees but I am too scared to plant close to the pool for if they ruin the foundations by seeking out water? Hrrrrm anyone had experience or know about these magnolia root systems? Fu maybe? Thanks in advance would be such a shame not to make use of them xx Re: Magnolia tree near pool? 3Apr 19, 2013 12:04 am It's not the seeking out of water that trees do. Its following of softer soil.
