Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Mar 16, 2013 3:50 pm Hi all thanks for all the great info, i am convinced to go organic, all the info and results sound solid to me. i have Windsor couch in for a few years now but it getting kik coming through and some weeds, dont like the look of these two together. One prob is sun is not 100% in yard but sun moves over yard to give it a reasonable blast, and have bore water available. Couch is everywhere as expected and i just deal with it. if i keep the couch, whats the best way to remove kik only or drastically remove the lot and start again(mrs said ) any suggestions or a plan? Re: To keep Couch lawn or not 6Mar 23, 2013 11:59 am You can use glyphosate (round up) at 5ml only once the couch is fully dormant ie after 2 or more hard frosts. The kik won't go dormant as easy and you can kill it with round up without killing your couch. But if you dont get decent frosts then it wont work. The commerical grade product you need needs to contain DSMA which domestic paspalum killer has in it. Monument will slow it down by the looks of it but the stuff costs a fortune like 2k a bottle. You could re turf for that. You can also let your grass grow which will have the kik leaves a lot taller than the couch. You can then put on some rubber gloves and rub the kik leaves with a standard glypho mix. Re: To keep Couch lawn or not 7Mar 23, 2013 12:03 pm Oh and monument isnt a specfic kikuyu killer herbicide its a chem to selectively kill cool season grasses in summer active turf. As in kill rye grass in a couch lawn. Its a great chem with a price to match. Not for the average home owner though its a sports specfic chem. the leaves that are now underground go yellow, the tips that poke through photosynthesise and have chlorophyll, same reason they grow rhubarb in the dark. 5 4864 The HIA contract, in the term & conditions section states that "Commencment" is deemed when the drainage is started or the piers are dug or the slab is formed up (incase… 2 6177 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair But if it is a ground level open pit, then it is not a charged system.
