It's best to mix it into your soil. From the search engine at the top I've pulled the following information so far. IN WA you can buy it at some pool and spa places, fish pond sellers, hydroponic setup places, clarke rubber ( bought 15kg bags, I think ,for $27 3 weeks ago) , bunnings, micro brothers. Saw it 3 weeks ago in a pet and garden supply place labeled as actually to improve the soil. That's a first! It is usually sold as spa or pond filtering agent. It maybe called zeolite or zelbrite or prob some other names depending on supplier. Zeolite can be purchased through Bunnings as zeochlor I read in another thread. For an acre, see if you can get bulk zeolite. Best investment ever. Called "Castle Mountain Zeolite" Keep looking. There's many pages search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&keywords=where+to+get+zeolite&start=40 Re: Tell me more about Zeolite... 3Jan 29, 2013 7:21 pm Kexkez - thanks so much for the info! Very helpful. I am in Victoria but have emailed Castle Mountain Zeolite direct to see if they can help out. How much do you think I'll need for an acre? Or $341 a ton for 25kg bags. The transport costs look like they are going to be the killer though.... There is a version of zeolite that is used in stock feed as it can settle an upset stomach in cattle. I can;t remember the name of that form of it though. I was trying to remember a few weks abck when i needed some more but couldn't and the original person I spoke to at a farm supplies place near us wasn't around. The girls on the counter had no idea. There is also a healthfood liquid version for humans. My cousins husband was taking it 2 years ago to help with the huge amount of heavy metals he had in his system. No doubt the Kiwi salesman will chime in at some point. Best advice on zeolite is bloody use it! No matter where you are in Australia, this stuff should be an essential part of any landscape. It's never money wasted and I can tell you that when spending money on "soil" most is going to waste with out it. It captures nutrient like a magnet. It provides a habitat for microbes to live. The ones that a healthy soil needs. If there's no life in the soil, there's no life in your plants. It improves the structure of clay soils and sands alike. It even improves the characteristics of loams. It will pay for itself in no time, then continue to do so for longer than your house will be there. Re: Tell me more about Zeolite... 10Feb 06, 2013 8:36 pm I should add that nearly all gardeners, lawn contractors, soil outlets, horticulturists, garden centres are totally apathetic or ignorant to the enormous problems we see with nutrient run off. The environmental costs are quite stagering but more to the point it's things like zeolite and perlite that help you recapture what you have paid for and keep your money in your garden. If 10% of a bag of fertiliser is what actually makes your lawn and or garden green why would you continue wasting your money so freely. Re: Tell me more about Zeolite... 11Feb 10, 2013 6:35 am Thanks Fu. Now I have more to add to my 'discussions' with the hubby as to why we should spend the extra $$$. You don't want it coming back up on the next mow. (Though not using a catcher on a mower is highly recommended. ) Money well spent.
