Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 22, 2013 3:40 pm Just wondering if anyone has any pricing knowledge regarding trimming tall trees (ie: removing old limbs on a gum tree). I've had a quote of $850, which seems pretty steep for just one tree. Mind you, it is a very TALL tree... maybe they calculate cost based on height? Any insight very welcome... Included in that is equipment costs, labour, transport time and transport of equipment required, disposal or mulching cost depending on what they are doing with the waste. And then probably their biggest cost - insurance. For themselves, your property and any neighbours. Public liability insurance costs these days. 2 Re: Price check: trimming a tall tree 3Jan 22, 2013 3:51 pm Good to hear Sean. They're just going to leave the branches under the tree, but that's fine for firewood. Thanks for your quick response. Its a bit of a how long is a piece of string question - and some companies may want work more than others so might be more competitive. But given its a tall tree and they will need equipment and safety measures to be climbing or accessing the top of the tree it sounds though its probably in the ballpark. 2 Re: Price check: trimming a tall tree 5Feb 06, 2013 10:46 pm Make sure this work is carried out by an Arborist, not a tree lopper. The butchering fo trees often is what leads to trees becoming a hazard to homes in future storms. If you have large trees on a property, it is highly advised you have an Arbourist do a 5 year management plan for insurance purposes and for the full benefit of the tree and your property value. A well cared for tree adds value to your investment. Unfortunately, odds are that a cheap price will make for an expensive mess in years to come.
