Could be fertiliser burn or burn from applying on a hot day. Do you use herbicides like bin-die, buffalo master, weed and feed etc? Could be herbicide damage from over dosing, applied on a hot day etc. Or it could be simple compaction/dry spots, those yellowy areas could be hard/drier than the dark green areas. Also you need more height on your sir walter, from the pics its too short. thanks for this. Only ever use the Sirwalter fertiliser, only ever do it late afternoon and water in well. Never used any herbisides on it at all. Compaction, how is this caused ? as the fromt lawn that has he yellowy areas, very occasionally gets any traffic on it. Or is it just from the soil being different? thanks again, I will mow higher now. Re: Sirwalter help please 6Dec 16, 2012 7:25 am Yeah compaction/dry spots can be simple caused by variations in the soil and rain/traffic. Those bits might not be as friable or as easy to wet. Poke a screw driver around and see if there is any hard spots. If its hard, poke a garden fork into the areas and loosen it up then get some water into the holes. Top dressing with a thin layer of compost swept into the holes will aid in a permanent fix. Where are you by the way? Is your soil heavy or sandy? Re: Sirwalter help please 7Dec 16, 2012 7:28 am And those small spots look like burning from urine be it dogs possums bird poo etc. Re: Sirwalter help please 8Dec 16, 2012 8:46 am BeatrixKiddo Yeah compaction/dry spots can be simple caused by variations in the soil and rain/traffic. Where are you by the way? Is your soil heavy or sandy? I am in Melbourne, Eastern suburbs, very hard clay soil. I spread gypsum once a year. I will get the screw driver out today and have a look. With regards to the urine burn ,is there anything you can do to treat this? Thanks for your help Re: Sirwalter help please 9Dec 16, 2012 11:47 am We have 2 small dogs and buy these dog rocks things from the pet store (you put them in their water bowl) and this helps for us. Note: With buffalo grass you can probably expect some yellowing over the cooler months this i understand is is normal for this type of grass. Hopefully you can get a good green over the coming summer (water well). Good luck. Building McDonald Jones Bronte Manor One Contracts Signed Dec 12 DA Lodged Jan 13 DA Consent w/BAL40 Apr 13.
