Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Nov 19, 2012 1:39 pm So I am about to embark on building a privacy screen in my backyard, I am quite handy with the tools having built numerous decks, retaining walls and renovated a couple of bathrooms, but as always I am turning to you faithful H1 members for some advice The screen will be 6m W x 1.9M H. Post are 100mmx100m Cypress Pine, approx 1m apart. The frame will be treated pine 90mmx45. I plan on covering the entire screen with 7.5mm blueboard, and this will be finished off with a combination of feature tiles, render and decorative laser cut timber panels. Would anyone recommend I also brace this screen from behind with metal strapping ? not sure of the correct technical term for these. But you see them on all internal house frames, running diagonal across the wall before the plaster is applied. Or would you think the blueboard we be enough to prevent any bowing/movement of the screen ? Re: Privacy Screen Advice 2Nov 19, 2012 7:28 pm Unable to answer your question as I am not a builder, I do have some questions of my own. Are you planning on building the screen against one of your boundaries or will it be located elsewhere in your backyard? Would love to see photos during construction and when it's complete! I don't think you will need bracing if they are 1m apart. Hi guys We have just removed a very large grape vine which was mounted to a structure along this wall.
