Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Nov 15, 2012 1:54 pm Hi guys and girls I layed Saphire Buffalo turf last January, we live about 1 hour north of Melbourne and get pretty strong frosts over winter I did soil prep as per the Manchu sticky thread Fertilzed as per Manchu thread with power feed, seasol, sea mungus green and molasses The area is south facing and doesn't get a lot of sun in winter and due to the amount of rain we had this winter I did notice it was always pretty soggy under foot and just thought it was dieing off due to winter but the same turf at the back of the house facing North is now starting to come good and this stuff just seems to be drying out and turning to dust Any ideas why the buffalo would die like this from the info I've given? I'd yank out those weeds, grab your garden fork and start aerating. Stick your fork in about 20 cm deep, jiggle back and forth. Water deep with Gogo Juice. I started seeing dry compacted patches in my lawn recently. And these were parts that received no wear whatsoever. These sections that have been aerated are going nuts now. Don't underestimate what folks say about aerating your lawn - even if you're only using a garden fork like I did. It works wonders. Sorry, back on topic - get some air and water into your soil. Don't use fertiliser. See how you go. Someone else might have a better answer...but that's what I'd do. Re: Saphire Buffalo looking very dead 3Nov 17, 2012 7:00 pm Yeah that doesnt look great at all. Grab a few of those dead looking runners and scrap the outside with your finger nail. If its green underneath its alive, brown and its deadsky. Check for any new leaf shoots in the dead bits also then post back. Hi - thanks for your reply. Yes I think 'Ill go for whitish with very speckly bits rather than pure white something like this.
