Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Oct 24, 2012 5:47 pm I have a deck in my courtyard. I painted the deck because I thought it was a good idea at the time. Now the paint is peeling off I need to decide what to do. I am thinking of selling so my immediate thought is to scrap, sand and repaint. But I have noticed that some of the decking has twisted, some lifted, nails have come out, there are knots and holes, and some boards are sagging and split! The deck faces north so gets a lot of sun and a lot of weather. It is about 12 years old. So, could anyone give me a ball park figure of how much I would be looking at to replace with treated pine? It isn't a huge area, about 7m x 2m. Cheers Re: Deck question -paint or replace 2Oct 30, 2012 8:12 am Sounds like about 150 lm of deck depending on the gap you leave. so timber @ $3.00 app. plus labour plus hardware. luck Re: Deck question -paint or replace 3Nov 05, 2012 8:34 pm How much of the decking is twisted or split? We rejuvenated our 20-year old deck, replacing a few twisted or split boards and then giving the whole thing a coat of decking stain. There was a bit of work in it, but nowhere near as much as replacing the whole thing. Saved a lot of money too. ok thanks - yes was wondering if that should have been listed as Option Three! 2 6199 Your house roof does not show rusting other than some surface rust on the flashings. In my opinion you dont need to replace or paint the roof other than treat surface rust… 1 5972 |
