I am planning to lay turf and decided against sub surface irrigation. I read here that when it gets blocked by roots or dirt, it's almost impossible to fix it because you don't know where the blockage is. Moreover, there is no way to check that it's really working until your lawn starts to die. Re: Water systems 4Oct 17, 2012 9:05 am id have the system above ground, maybe popups just because if anything happens underground its a pain to get to but thats just my pref i would also water in the evening so less evap out of curiosity how far is the tank from your house? we are just about to purchase one in the coming month or so (same size) and am wondering what type of pump we would need as its at least ten meters from the house (we are rainwater mains split) and want decent pressure around the yard and in the house Re: Water systems 5Oct 17, 2012 10:47 pm I use a drippers for my shrubs, fruit trees and planter box, and MP Rotators for my lawn. Used to have sub-surface irrigation with pressure compensated sealed emitters and also use the Tech Filter, but found it was too uneven. We were also never sure if any had failed, and were always worried about cutting the hose when digging.
