Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 27, 2012 8:02 am I have been checking options for lawn in our new home. The cost of some grass varieties such as Sir Walter are quite high. I have read a bit about Empire Zoysia and it seems to tick all the boxes. Hardy Easy to grow Shade tolerant Pest and weed resistant With the added bonus of 30-50% less moving required to many other varieties and it costs around $4.50 per sq mt. Is it as good as the advertising retailers say it is? Any other plus or minus comments? We are in Sydney so would also love some feedback on how much others paid and where they got it from. We only mow twice during winter, mainly to mow the dog poo in really, not because the grass is too long. We paid at the time $6.50 per meter (we got 300sqm) delivered. The only con I can see (and you would have this with any other type of turf I suspect) is that if you are going to pay money for a nice lawn, you will get upset when the neighbours buffalo tries to creep in etc. Make sure to prep the soil properly prior to laying the turf.
